Witcher 3 Remastered Ciri of Cintra

Child of the Elder Blood — playable in specific Wild Hunt sequences, not a Remastered-only campaign.

Last updated:

Ciri of Cintra

Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon — Ciri — is the narrative center of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the reason the Wild Hunt crosses worlds. She is not the open-world protagonist of Remastered. When the upgrade launches September 29, 2026, you still explore the Continent as Geralt of Rivia and you still take the pad as Ciri only during specific main-quest sequences that shipped with the original campaign. Remastered does not add a Ciri-only map, a Ciri New Game, or a second campaign stitched onto Hearts of Stone or Blood and Wine.

That distinction is the entire point of this page. Players search “playable Ciri” and “Ciri campaign Remastered” for two different games. This one is Geralt’s saga with Ciri chapters. The Witcher 4, which CD PROJEKT RED is targeting for 2028, is the title that makes her the full lead. Songs of the Past in 2027 is a Geralt expansion. Keep those three products separate while you plan a replay.

If you have not claimed the free upgrade yet, start at How to Upgrade. For quest order that includes her chapters, use the Walkthrough. For who Geralt is between those chapters, stay on his page. For the 2026 feature list, read What’s New.

Who Ciri is in this story

Ciri is the lion cub of Cintra, daughter of Pavetta, granddaughter of Queen Calanthe, and the Child of the Elder Blood — a lineage the Aen Elle and the Wild Hunt want to weaponize. Geralt claimed the Law of Surprise years before this game; Yennefer is the closest thing she has to a mother. By the time White Orchard opens, Ciri is missing, hunted, and leaving wreckage across worlds. Your contracts, romances, and political choices decide what kind of parent-figure Geralt is when she needs him.

She trained at Kaer Morhen with witcher swords but she is not a mutated professional in Geralt’s sense. She does not sip Swallow before a fight or cast Quen as a bubble. Elder Blood lets her move in ways a witcher cannot: short-range blinks, bursts of force, and — in the late game — confrontations that sit closer to destiny than to a contract ledger. Treating her like “Geralt but faster” is how players bounce off her chapters.

When you actually play as Ciri

Ciri’s playable time is gated to named story quests, not to a free-roam toggle. Expect her in the “Ciri’s Story” chain that Geralt uncovers by talking to witnesses — sequences that include The King of the Wolves, Breakneck Speed in Novigrad, Out of the Shadows, and Fleeing the Bog. Later, you take her through the Battle of Kaer Morhen, Bald Mountain against Imlerith, and the closing White Frost / Eredin beats (quest names such as Child of the Elder Blood, On Thin Ice, and Tedd Deireadh, The Final Age, depending on how far the main thread has run).

Those missions are linear compared with Velen’s swamp. Objectives are tighter. Failure states are story-flavored. You cannot open the alchemy menu and brew a new oil. You cannot call Roach and ride to a question mark. That is intentional: Ciri is a hunted heir, not a traveling contractor. Remastered’s combat and camera work still apply — refined animations, adaptive camera, updated monster behavior when she faces ghouls or the Hunt — but her ruleset stays the one the 2015 quests used.

Do not wait for a “Ciri unlock” after September 29. If you finish the main quest without seeing her chapters, you skipped or have not reached the story nodes that grant them. The Walkthrough is the map. This page will not invent extra Ciri hours to fill a search result.

How her kit differs from Geralt’s

Geralt’s fantasy is preparation: oils, bombs, Signs, Quen, and the skill tree. Ciri’s fantasy is motion. Blink closes space. Sword strings are faster and less about stamina-as-a-witcher-resource. Magic arrives as burst rather than five equipped Signs. There is no transmog loadout for her because she is not wearing your Grandmaster Wolven set in the open world. There is no Alchemy build for her because she is not drinking decoctions between blinks.

If you came here from Combat or Signs and Alchemy, use those guides for Geralt. For Ciri, learn the blink tell, keep moving, and treat her bosses as story exams. Imlerith on Bald Mountain is the classic example: the fight is hers, the revenge is personal, and Geralt is not waiting off-screen with Golden Oriole.

Visual upgrades still matter. Path tracing, hair, and the new shading model change how ashen hair and Elder Blood effects read in snow and fire. That is presentation. It is not a new skill tree with her name on it.

Remastered, Songs of the Past, and The Witcher 4

Three calendars get mashed together in search results:

  1. Remastered — September 29, 2026. Free upgrade for current owners. Geralt’s campaign plus Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine (granted at no extra cost on August 25, 2026). Ciri remains a guest playable in the existing sequences.
  2. Songs of the Past — 2027. A new Witcher 3 expansion in Geralt’s story, co-developed with Fool’s Theory. Size talk compares it to Blood and Wine. It is not Ciri’s game. See Songs of the Past.
  3. The Witcher 4 — targeting 2028. Ciri is the protagonist of a new trilogy. That is a different engine and a different product. Do not expect Remastered to preview her full 2028 kit.

Hearts of Stone (Olgierd, Gaunter O’Dimm) and Blood and Wine (Toussaint, Regis, Dettlaff) do not make Ciri playable. They are Geralt contracts and courts. If a video thumbnail promises “Ciri DLC in Remastered,” it is mixing products.

Companions who define her ending

Yennefer and Triss are how Ciri measures Geralt. Vesemir’s fate at Kaer Morhen is a scar she carries. The Bloody Baron, the Lodge, and Skellige’s queens change the world she might inherit, even when she is off-screen. Eredin, Imlerith, and Caranthir are the Hunt. Your Geralt choices — especially whether you visit her during certain downtime beats — still decide which epilogue you get. That is why a Ciri page belongs next to a Walkthrough rather than next to Best Builds.

From Wild Hunt sequences to 2028

Replay Ciri’s chapters in Remastered to see the Elder Blood set pieces with the 2026 lighting and animation pass, then put the pad back in Geralt’s hands for Toussaint and, later, Songs of the Past. When The Witcher 4 nears 2028, that game will need its own wiki language. This page stays honest about this product: a single-player Geralt campaign where Ciri is playable in specific main-quest sequences, and nothing more. FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about the Remastered upgrade, builds, and story.

Is Ciri playable in Witcher 3 Remastered?

Yes, in specific main-quest sequences that already exist in the campaign — not as an open-world protagonist. See the Walkthrough for quest order.

Does Remastered add a new Ciri campaign?

No. There is no Remastered-only Ciri campaign. A full Ciri-led game is The Witcher 4, targeting 2028. Songs of the Past in 2027 is a Geralt expansion.

How is Ciri different from Geralt in combat?

Ciri blinks and uses burst magic instead of Geralt's potions and five Signs. Use Combat and Signs and Alchemy for Geralt; treat Ciri chapters as story set pieces.

Do Hearts of Stone or Blood and Wine let me play as Ciri?

No. Those expansions star Geralt. They were granted at no extra cost on August 25, 2026, but they do not add Ciri hours.

Should I learn the skill tree for Ciri?

Spend ability points on Geralt via the Skill Tree. Ciri does not use that progression. Builds belong on the Builds Hub.

Where do I start if I care about Ciri's story?

Follow Getting Started, then the Walkthrough. Claim the upgrade with How to Upgrade so her chapters run on the Remastered client.
